Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria Ani DiFranco) is an American and Canadian artist and singer. She has released more than 20 albums. Her music is classified as folk rock and alternative rock however it includes influences from punk funk hip hop and jazz. Ani DiFranco has been widely acknowledged as the feminist's icon, and Grammy-winning artist, is believed to be to be the father in DIY music. She was one of the pioneers to launch their own labels in 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd, 1970. She was the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco The couple had met while attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was of Italian heritage and her mother came from Montreal. Ani diFranco composed and performed the song 32 Flavors. It was included as the fifth single from DiFranco's 1995 studio album Not a Pretty Girl. This song appears on the film's soundtrack the Canadian romance film Better Than Chocolate from 1999. In 2013 DiFranco apologized after it was announced the fact that she had planned a three-day workshop at a former Louisiana plantation for slaves. Even though she canceled the event, many people (including our paper) weren't feeling any regret. DiFranco apologized for her actions days later. She is known for her Little Folksinger music, but she's performed with many musicians as well as genres ranging that range from Pete Seeger to Chuck D. She hails from New Orleans. Ani DiFranco lives with Kristen Ford. In her teens, she began writing music of her own. She would perform them at bars and cafes throughout her teens. DiFranco was enrolled in courses at Buffalo State College at age 16, after she graduated from Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts. Ani's new baritone guitar is an original guitar that Alvarez made after several consultations with me and Chrys Johnson who was an artist rep for Alvarez in the early days. It features their System 600 preamp and has all solid woods--a cedar top mahogany back and sides, and an ebony fretboard.
